Hygiene lock for personal hygiene within the HACCP

Hygiene lock for personal hygiene within the HACCP

There are various ways of implementing the HACCP plan successfully. Elpress has over 40 years of experience in the development and installation of applications that contribute to food safety. A hygiene lock plays an important role in monitoring personal hygiene.

What is HACCP?

The Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) were developed by NASA in the 1960s to monitor the safety of food for astronauts. Years later, these guidelines were introduced to improve standards throughout the food industry. Europe, like the US, has made HACCP mandatory. Parts of the HACCP apply to each sector of the food industry and each company is obliged to set up a hygiene code that lays down rules, conditions and actions. Issues such as process control and environmental hygiene are almost always applicable, but personal hygiene also plays a major role.

How a hygiene lock works

A hygiene lock can be a standard solution or a tailor-made model. In other words, you can find configurations that are already interconnected and thus form a ready-made unit, or you can consult with the experts to decide which one is ideal for your company. Depending on your HACCP plan and the company’s requirements, a design is prepared that incorporates all of the important steps in a logical way.

Before the staff enter the shop floor, they are guided through a hygiene lock. The necessary cleaning and disinfection operations must be carried out in this area. By giving your employees a correct explanation and information, they will know what is expected of them. Often more is needed and a system with a small gate, a turnstile, is chosen. The sensor in the system detects whether a certain operation has been carried out in the hygiene lock; if it has, the gate opens automatically.

When installing a hygiene lock, due attention is paid to employee flows. What about walking routes? Can several teams go back and forth at the same time? What elements are essential for ensuring the desired hygiene level? Together with you, Elpress looks at the possibilities and regulations, and provides the best solution.
